Hello All, I am newbie. I have few questions about windows server 2008. Suppose there is a large physical server that can have 3 or 4 guest sessons without being overloaded. Hi,I have a little question about dns settings for domains.I want to point multiple domain names to my server that have just 1 ip and no nameservers.Would it work if i make a A-record on each domain and points them to the IP, and install some sort of controll panel like "cpanel". Will thedomains be pointed to the right website on the server? If there is other ideas to solve this it would be appreciated too.Thanks!

Previously I am using godaddy and using their DNS service to set my A record, mx record and SFP record. My IPv6 works great after the first router advertisement... When it comes time for radvd to second a second router advertisement it dies and the route disappears from my routing table. In short, IPv6 works great for about 100 seconds and then it dies. I can't figure out why.I'm trying to setup IPv6 over IPv4 PPTPD. The entire /64 is dedicated to the single PPP interface. Any idea why it's not working? Thanks!

I've noticed that their page generation times (as seen in debug mode) are anything from 0.2-0.4s on most pages. This seems significantly higher than other sites, so I'm trying to improve things. When I go to HKEY_USERS, and click on my own profile in the registry on one of our 2003 R2 servers, I get an error "Cannot open S-1-5....(blah-blah-blah). Error while opening key." I figured out that the SID in the error message is my own profile. Other people get that error when they log into the server and click on my SID in the registry as well. Does this mean that my profile on this machine is corrupt? I've been asking around the office to colleagues about this error and no one seems to know what's going on. Any ideas? Thanks in advance.

We currently have 2x 2008R2 DC's one is in VMware and the other is physical and a 3rd 2003R2 remote DC. We had a power outage a couple of days ago and lost connectivity to the remote DC and the VMWare DC was down as well. The physical DC was up but DNS and AD-DS was not working on our network, looking at the event logs I was getting Event ID 4013 As below; The DNS server is waiting for Active Directory Domain Services (AD DS) to signal that the initial synchronization of the directory has been completed. I have a batch file to terminate a Windows Server 2008 session and it works fine. I also created a programmed task so it runs automatically around midnight but, when I go to our server in the morning, the session is still active and Windows is only blocked. As all of you must know, Windows Server 2008 blocks itself after some time has elapsed and no activity has been performed. Well, at the time my programmed task runs, Windows is already blocked and for this reason the session stays alive but, if it is not blocked yet, then the session is termiated when the programmed task runs. How can I solve this issue so the Windows session is terminated wheather it is blocked or not…

Hello i have a problem, i want have network folder with allowed applications that normal users (they dont have admin rights) can install. I set SRV to dissallow and my whitelist path to unrestricted.. now i have control which apps users can install but if that app need admin rights it doesnt work, a lot of app need admin right. Hi, I've installed and configured Windows 2008 R2 Web Edition. All works good, but I need to set VPN. A server is on remote datacenter and I dont have phisical access to it. It have one network card with ipv4 configured address. Now I must install VPN as client to connect to remote server. If in ipv4 details protocol I've uncheck default route, then all works ok, but outgoing traffic are sent to my ip gateway not vpn address. When I've check default route in vpn protocol details then I will be disconnected. So my question is.. How I can set up the routing table to access a server from static ip and vpn ip ? I have a windows server 2003/2008 mixed domain. There is one 2008 server domain controller and three win2k3 dc's. a win2k3dc is the pdc emulator(it holds all the roles currently). The time in the domain is off amongst all nodes, servers and workstations. The pdc emulator is set for an external time source. When i run a w32tm /query /status on the workstations and servers i always get back source being local cmos clock. When i run w32tm /resync i always get back did not synchronize because no time data avaliable. When i run w32 /config /syncfromflags:domhier it does not change the source. What would be the next step i could take in this situation.

Hi, I recently demoted a troublesome 2003 SP1 DC from AD. There was left a 2008 R2 DC in the same site, however, when i go to ADSS and into that one specific site from any DC now, i get the error "Data from Servers is not avaialbe from Domain Controller because: An operations error occured. Try again later, or choose another DC by selecting Connect to Domain Controller on the Domain context menu." DCdiag shows no apparent problems and all tests pass. So could i simply delete the corrupted site and recreate it? All the other sites are ok.
